The Nicholas Way Fund supports Early Career Researchers in Western Australia by providing additional top-up funds to ensure the success of their research project. The funds can be requested for any area of need related to project success that can be clearly justified by the early career researcher, such as:

  • open access publication costs to disseminate the project outcome; or
  • unanticipated costs, or costs in excess of the anticipated project budget, where these costs will impede the successful completion of the research.

The fund provides grants of (up to) $5,000 each, with up to four grants awarded per annum.

Applications can be made in writing at any time. For more information about how to apply, please refer to the round guidelines.

This fund has been established in honour of Nicholas Way via a generous gift from Professor Sue Fletcher who is passionate about creating successful pathways for early career researchers.
