West Aussie bush cooking afficionado, Harry Fisher, is one of the faces of our Fire Up for Men’s Health campaign for 2024, urging blokes to fire up the barbie and spark up a conversation about men’s health.

A You Tube and Instagram favourite, Harry’s Fire to Fork accounts have amassed millions of views and thousands of followers across the globe, cementing his name as one of the world’s leading authorities on bush cooking.

Harry has traversed the state from north to south and won countless fans with his distinctive campfire cooking approach. He is well known for his focus on high-quality ingredients and integrating the lessons he’s learned from his mum, a renowned chef in her own right.

Harry also has his own reasons for firing up again this year.

“I’m not exactly a personal trainer or dietician, if anything I’m closer to a fatness instructor and generally surrounded by blokes who treat their body like a hire car,” he said,

And a tendency, like many blokes, to ignore physical and mental health symptoms.

“Until one day I had a pain in my nether-regions which I promptly ignored,” he explained.

“Later my wife (a doctor) asked why I was walking strangely. So, I told her.

“I’ll never forget her next sentence ‘go to emergency right now – time is tissue. You could lose a testicle in the next 20 minutes’.

“I can assure you I didn’t waste time and was there five minutes later. Thankfully it was a false alarm but it reframed my outlook on my health and seeking help.

“Blokes don’t get sick any less than women, but they do die at much higher rates because they view getting treatment as a weakness. There is nothing stronger than facing your issues. If you’re thinking about it, act on it.”

Harry will be firing for men’s health during spring and is urging others to join him or fire up their own conversations with family and friends.
