Our first round of Barry Marshall Travel Awards for 2026 have now been announced!
Generously funded by Professor Barry Marshall AC and his wife Adrienne and Business Events (BE) Perth, the awards are available on a competitive basis to assist with some of the costs of participating in a national or international scientific conference.
Prof Marshall AC credits a travel grant to present a paper in the early stages of his research career, as setting him on the path towards a Nobel Prize for Physiology and Medicine for his world-leading research into Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) alongside Emeritus Professor Robin Warren.
The pair’s research would go on to change the way stomach ulcers were treated across the globe.
The travel grants are open to eligible health professionals and medical researchers who are pursuing a research project or initiative connected with a Western Australian Public Health Service Provider (including Public-Private Partnership providers).
Professor Marshall generously expanded his support in 2026 so that more researchers are able to travel to present their findings or attend key conferences.
Our first-round recipients for 2026 listed below are headed to conferences in South Australia, Queensland Canada and Germany.
