New Approaches for Early Detection of Skin Cancer Grant Round – Closed

THRF Group was pleased to invite Expressions of Interest for its 2022 Targeted Grant Round focused on New Approaches for Early Detection of Skin Cancer.

The New Approaches for Early Detection of Skin Cancer Grant Round was available for SA-based health and medical researchers, with funding of up to $125,000 total for a maximum of two years.

The round is looking to seed-fund projects which advance novel approaches to improve the capability and/or accessibility for early detection of skin cancer.

For this round, novel approaches to aid early detection could include progressing one or more of the following:

  • advanced imaging techniques;
  • machine learning tools;
  • non- or minimally-invasive ‘self-service’ diagnostics; or
  • adaptation of existing technologies in new ways.

With the potential for innovation arising from the cross-fertilisation of ideas and approaches from different fields (e.g. technology disciplines such as engineering, computer science etc.), we particularly encourage applications from transdisciplinary teams. The inclusion of early career researchers as part of project teams is also encouraged.

Expressions of Interest were accepted via the SmartyGrants platform. Applications closed at 4:00pm (ACDT) Wednesday 15 June 2022.

Once you log in to SmartyGrants and click on the round, you will be given the option to download a preview PDF of the form. Please note this is for preparation purposes only – applications will only be accepted via SmartyGrants. For any additional questions about SmartyGrants, please download their Help Guide to applicants.

Please download the document/templates below – they will be required for EoI preparation and submission:
