THRF Group was pleased to invite Expressions of Interest from SA-based health and medical researchers for this 2024 Competitive Research Project Grant Round which has the overall objective to improve health outcomes for priority populations by advancing the care and/or treatment of chronic conditions.

Research proposals must work with a priority population to either develop and evaluate new, or to improve existing, treatments, therapies, or public/community healthcare services/supports for one of the following chronic conditions:

  • chronic pulmonary/respiratory diseases, including lung cancer;
  • chronic kidney disease;
  • diabetes (Type I or II);
  • mental health conditions, including eating disorders;
  • neurodegenerative conditions, including dementia and Parkinson’s;
  • rheumatological and other chronic musculoskeletal conditions;
  • chronic vascular disease, including stroke and stroke sequelae.

Proposals must be led by an early-to-mid-career researcher and may request funding of up to $250,000 total for a maximum of two years.

Applicants will be expected to describe the “next steps” whereby the anticipated outcomes from the research could be progressed and sustainably implemented to deliver beneficial health and wellbeing outcomes for the priority population(s) affected, as well as the community more broadly.

Proposals must not duplicate or substantially overlap with existing projects or pending proposals. Please refer to the Guidelines for more details.

Expressions of Interest closed Wednesday 7th August 2024.
