Led by THRF Group Ambassador Alex Vakitsidis, the group raised the money by carolling around the community at Christmas time, and holding an Australia Day luncheon with the Greek Orthodox Community.
“I wish to say a big thank you to these ladies, they work very hard,” Alex said.
“Every night we finish carolling and they always say they’re free the next day. They love what they’re doing, they do it from the bottom of their heart.
“I cannot do anything without these ladies supporting me.”
The funds raised will help progress lifesaving research and improve patient care at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Basil Hetzel Institute for Translational Health Research.
Alex and her group have been fundraising for the QEH and THRF for nearly 30 years, clocking up over $200,000 in donations!
THRF CEO Paul Flynn paid tribute to this incredible contribution.
“They are hugely passionate and giving people,” Paul said.
“The contributions from Alex and her community over the past 30 years have helped immensely towards purchasing equipment and progressing medical research that will save lives.”
